web standards
Here at idealEye, we build all new websites so that they conform to standards as set out by the W3C consortium (World Wide Web Consortium) and other standards groups. By following these guidelines, we as designers ensure that our sites are:
- accessible by different browsers and devices. By using web standards we ensure greater accessibility by people with different needs or disabilities.
- compatible with today's browsers as well as newer browsers which will be developed in the future.
- search engines like the way that standards compliant webpages are structured. Our pages are optimised so that search engines will index the sites more easily. Please note that does not guarantee search engine placement. You may also decide to take out directory listings and paid advertising to promote your site.
- uses less bandwidth. Page sizes are comparably smaller when designed using css than with tables. Having a site designed by idealEye will mean your pages take less time to download and the bandwidth used with be considerably less. In real terms what does this mean? That your pages will load faster and that more people can access your site for a fixed amount of bandwidth. Many people have asked us what the latter is: basically, when you buy webspace, you also buy a certain amount of bandwidth usage. So for every person that comes to you site, they use up a certain amount of your bandwidth according to how big or small your file sizes/pages are. If your pages are designed using css then file sizes are smaller, therefore your purchased bandwidth quota will go farther.
As well as making good business sense, designing with web standards is also good practice and something that idealEye are committed to.
